Last updated: April 2025. IJEP is committed to ensuring that its website and published content are accessible to all users.
Our Commitment
The International Journal of Emerging Philosophy (IJEP) is committed to providing an accessible experience for all visitors to our website and all readers of our published content, including individuals with disabilities. We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA.
Accessibility Features
We have implemented the following measures to improve accessibility:
- Semantic HTML markup to support assistive technologies such as screen readers
- Sufficient colour contrast ratios for all text and interface elements
- Alternative text for all meaningful images
- Keyboard-navigable interface elements
- Clear and consistent navigation structure across all pages
- Resizable text without loss of content or functionality
- PDF articles structured to support basic screen reader access
Known Limitations
While we strive to ensure accessibility across our platforms, some older published content and certain third-party components (including our OJS submission platform) may not fully meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards. We are committed to addressing these limitations progressively as resources allow.
Specific known limitations include:
- Some older PDF articles may not be fully tagged for screen reader accessibility. Authors are encouraged to supply accessible source files upon acceptance.
- Complex tables and mathematical or logical notation within articles may present challenges for some assistive technologies.
Requesting Accessible Formats
If you require any content published in IJEP in an alternative accessible format, please contact us at editors@emergingphilosophy.org and describe your needs. We will endeavour to provide a suitable alternative within a reasonable timeframe.
Feedback
We welcome feedback on the accessibility of our website and publications. If you encounter any accessibility barriers, please contact us at editors@emergingphilosophy.org with a description of the issue and the URL or content affected. We aim to respond to accessibility feedback within five business days.
Third-Party Platforms
IJEP uses the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform for manuscript submission and management. We do not control the accessibility of OJS and cannot guarantee compliance with our standards. Users who experience accessibility barriers on the OJS platform should contact us and we will assist where possible.
