Corrections & Retractions Policy

Home / Corrections & Retractions Policy

Last updated: April 2025. IJEP is committed to the accuracy and integrity of the scholarly record. This policy sets out how errors, retractions, and expressions of concern are handled.

Commitment to Accuracy

The International Journal of Emerging Philosophy (IJEP) recognises that maintaining the integrity of the published record is a fundamental responsibility. IJEP takes all reasonable steps to ensure that published articles are accurate and free from errors. Where errors do occur, IJEP is committed to correcting them transparently and promptly in accordance with COPE guidelines.

Author-Initiated Corrections

Authors who identify errors in their published work are encouraged to notify the editorial team at the earliest opportunity. Minor errors of spelling, grammar, or formatting may be corrected via a corrigendum, which is published as a linked notice and cross-referenced to the original article. Errors that materially affect the interpretation of findings or arguments may require a more substantial correction notice.

Types of Correction Notice

Corrigendum

A corrigendum is issued to correct an error introduced by the author. It is published as a separate notice linked to the original article and clearly identifies the nature and location of the error and the corrected text.

Erratum

An erratum is issued to correct an error introduced by IJEP during the editorial or production process. It takes the same format as a corrigendum and is linked to the original article.

Retraction

Retraction is reserved for cases where the core findings or conclusions of a published article are unreliable due to misconduct (including plagiarism, data fabrication or falsification, or duplicate publication), significant unintentional error, or a combination of these factors. Retraction notices are published according to COPE guidelines, clearly indicate the reason for retraction, and are permanently linked to the original article. The original article remains available but is clearly marked as retracted.

Expression of Concern

An expression of concern may be issued where an investigation into potential misconduct is ongoing or where the editors become aware of concerns about the reliability of published results that cannot be resolved quickly. It is not a final determination of misconduct.

Reporting Concerns

Readers, reviewers, and third parties who become aware of errors in published articles, or who have concerns about research integrity, are encouraged to contact the editorial team at editors@emergingphilosophy.org. All reports will be handled confidentially and investigated in accordance with COPE guidelines.
